The Riders Branch of the Royal British Legion was much in evidence at the event, with numerous motor bikes on show. There was even an auction for the chance to use a new 2010 Goldwing 1832cc for a day. Other attractions included a display of pole dancing, some armoured vehicles, the Gravesend Borough Band and a rock band. It was also great to see so many Chelsea Pensioners in their smart red uniforms.
Kettle Bridge were originally booked to do two stands but a change to the timetable meant that there was only the opportunity to fit one in. We performed Prescot, Aughton and Colne which were all well received by the crowd. Who needs poles when you have sticks and slings? This was followed by Churchtown featuring some enthusiastic participation from members of the audience of all ages.
All too soon it was time to leave but we were so pleased to have made a contribution to the landmark celebrations of such a worthy organisation.
