Our first July stand saw us at the Bowl Inn, Stalisfield, near Charing, with our good friends from Oyster Morris. We enjoyed a fine sunny evening and, as usual, Oyster had both their men's and women's sides dancing out.
From our point of view, it was great to see Margaret again after quite a break. Understandably, she opted not to dance but was seen to be fiddling about for most of our dances – a welcome addition to the band.
Sharing the stand with two other sides meant that there was plenty of time for the dancers to recover between dances. Even so, we got through five turns including a surround-sound version of Cossington where the band encircled the dancers. This was a great way to round off the formal dancing but it was rather disc-oncerting for the dancers to have the band bea-ring down on them.
The final dance of the evening was an all-in performance of Green Stocking which was enjoyed by one and all. This brought a very pleasant occasion to a close. Thanks go to Oyster for sharing it with us.
